in 1968, The famous MIT computer scientist ivan sutherlandis being the godfather of VR display. he created the first vr head set with his colleagues has started the first virtual headset experiment. 

he also created a sketch pad in 1963

in 1987, the actual term virtual reality being coined, And defining the virtual reality

virtual means being something in effect, though not in actually or in fact.

now when we talk about virtual reality then there is a term virtual which means it is dream view of the environment that any one can see it with his open eyes.
